Introduction:
The general purpose of Multiple Regressions (the term was first used by Pearson, 1908) is to learn more about the relationship between several independent or predictor variables and a dependent or criterion variable. In practical application, variables can be numerous, which make it inconvenient to build regression model by all variables (may introduce Multi-Colinearity), therefore, alternatives models which use just some variables out of the whole variables are usually brought forward, an optimal model will be chosen from alternative models. In project 1, two alternative models for predicting the number of active physicians in county demographic information (CDI) have been built and several diagnoses been made to compared the model’s fitness. Besides that, by building Multiple Regression Models according to different sample population, we can study the relations between different sample populations and dependent variable, exploring further how sample population influence variance on dependent variable. Project 2 is a such kind of case that concerns relations between the numbers of serious crimes in CDI against three predictors in four regions (four difference sample populations).
